About cynthia

the Period Nutritionist

Helping you get your regular period back is my life's passion & is the focus of my practice. This is because, for me, it’s personal.

This work started because of my own journey with a missing period and infertility

I really don’t remember a time from my late teens until almost 30 years old when I wasn’t trying to be the “healthiest” me. Eating “healthy” and exercising every day (sometimes twice/day) was normal for me. But my period was missing and deep down I knew something was off. I remember saying to myself after my official diagnosis of hypothalamic amenorrhea and the doctor telling me to eat more and exercise less, “this can’t be possible, eating healthy is good for you and exercising a lot is healthy.” PS- that diagnosis took me years to get after being misdiagnosed with PCOS, unexplained infertility & doctors just trying to resolve it with the pill.

Though I was relieved to have some answers on how to get my period back it wasn’t the answer I was wanting to hear. I worked so hard to be healthy and fit- I didn’t want to “throw it away”.

It took me years, visits to multiple practitioners, and trying everything to get my period back until I finally admitted that all the things I was doing to stay “healthy” were the things that were making me unhealthy. These behaviors were why I didn’t have a period and was infertile.

I finally had to admit how serious of a problem a missing period was.

I didn’t know that an even bigger struggle lay in front of me. To get my period back, I would have to get over food fears, break my long-held food rules, and work through anxiety over my body. I didn’t even know how to start. I was feeling so scared, lost, and frustrated.

Through hard work and working through science-backed methods that work, I recovered my period for good and reversed my infertility.

Once I recovered, I knew I never wanted another woman to go through this like I did. I realized there had to be SO many women with the same struggle. I had to share the method that I used, to help other women.

This is why I started the Period Nutritionist.

In my practice as a registered dietitian, I work with women who have been diagnosed with or believe they might have hypothalamic amenorrhea

The key areas I focus on are:

But, mostly I don’t want you to be alone in this journey

MY PRACTICE AND COMMUNITY HELP YOU CONNECT WITH WOMEN WHO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH.

Getting your period back is about fully enjoying your life & improving your health.

It’s the little things that come with period recovery that are the most rewarding. The mental space to enjoy the things you love or never knew you loved. Even closer relationships with people you love. Those spontaneous girlfriend nights or a fun date night, and so much more!

ABOUT ME

My professional experience began after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta. I went on to complete my dietetic internship at SUNY Oneonta to earn my title as a Registered Dietitian and a Master’s of Science Degree in Nutrition. I am a Registered and Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN and CDN), as well as a Certified Health Coach.

In my journey as the founder of the signature program Recipe For a Period, I have had the privilege of supporting countless women in reclaiming their menstrual cycles. My deep passion lies in guiding these women towards restoring their fertility, fostering a healthy relationship with food and exercise, and dispelling the misconception that the pill is a solution for their missing periods, contrary to what some doctors may suggest.

Every day, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to pursue my life's purpose: empowering women to regain their periods, rediscover fertility, and find true freedom in their approach to food and exercise. Having experienced my own struggles, I am dedicated to helping others avoid similar challenges, and I wake up each morning excited to embrace this meaningful work.

When I’m not serving women across the world with period recovery- you can find me with the two loves of my life, my sons, Brian and Brayden. I love to travel, laugh, and drink wine and coffee.

Let me guide you to make easy, sustainable changes so you can

get your period back for good.
